Boy, Yall kill me with all this negative talk and bashing. As i see it, it will be better for sportsman racers. I work for IHRA and i see positve things happening for sportsman and the fans. This is not NHRA and don't want to be. I agree there are things that need tweeking a little. Look at it this way ,we all still have more than one place to race. You as a sportsman racer are used to the same old thing that IHRA has always done and you have to admit, it don't work like it used to.At least this has not effected the sportsman side in any way other than being better. You used to complain ,too many days sitting around, too much time off work ,and waiting for pros to run on schedule , and sometimes loosing a qualifying run, (weather ,which no one can control except for the good lord above) ect.....,so now it is a two day NITRO JAM ( National). All i can say if this" PRO SHOW" works and it puts fans in the seats then sponsors will see this and maybe start stepping up on their contingincy program(after all that is what they want is exposure to sell their product), which means they would not mind paying more for more results. Most all of us at one time or another have talked about spectator count at some of these events. If you have suggestions that you think might help, i am sure they will listen and consider some of these . I wish i could come up with a perfect organization that would please every racer ,but we all know that ain't gonna happen.Heck, i'm happy we still have IHRA and will try my best to support it so we can keep it and you should too.Try this new deal first before you judge it, you may be surprised ! Hope to see all you at some point and time next year at one or more races. I will be at all the NITRO JAM events supporting what i love so much. THINK POSSITIVE !!!!Sorry for the long vent here . I feel better now.

Danny sr. i agree, some people never realize there are others in their corner trying to make things better. When it comes to the point of hardly no places to race it will be too late to say , "well maybe we shoulda gave them a chance . some see it , others never will

I am still confused on how the Sportsman part works. Or more so when it will be ran. Exactly when do the sportsman race at a national event? They keep saying it will run with out waiting but I don't see how.

No Pro oildowns to worry about, no late runs, out relatively early to eat, to the motel or home. It sounds like a good deal! 442OLDS - This quote is part of a news release from IHRA: "The final half of the schedule will remain similar to 2009 with U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich., Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md. and New England Dragway in Epping, N.H. holding down summer dates. Maryland International Raceway will host its event August 28-29 and New England Dragway will hold down a date the weekend of September 11-12." http://www.ihra.com/article/5329.html Travis - I'm not sure, but it's possible.....weather has often been a problem at the World Finals. Perhaps that may have been a part of the reason for moving it to Virginia. Despite it not being that much further away and being further north, hopefully it will make a difference.

Danny, being close to IHRA can you tell us if Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, considered sportsman categories, will run during the day and finish? Or will they qualify during the day and then run eliminations between the Pros at night?

I honestly cannot answer that until the day by day schedule is posted for each race.I know this past year top sportsman and top dragster were run during the pro qualifying sessions, i would guess to give the spectators some really fast sportsman cars to watch. At any rate it will be more sportsman friendly.

Thanks Myron. That is great as long as the car counts are low. If there is a high car count I assume they will stop the sportsman when the Pro's are schedueled. Then finish them after the Pro show. Is it a seperate show each day for the sportsman. Or spread across the two days?
