In order to steer this discussion in the direction that I think it should go,I would like to ask some of the drivers of VERY slow reacting cars a question.
What techniques would you generally use in order to "cut" a light? I drove a U/SA wagon at Indy in 2004. If you saw the last yellow in that car (the way it was set-up),I don't think you would be happy with the reaction time,no matter who was driving it! |

Daryl, I drove a 17-18 second HF/SA for three years. It only had 20" slicks on the front, so I could leave on the bottom bulb (seeing the bottom bulb), shallow staged, and still be red. I adjusted RPM for rollout differences. I normally launched at 2200 rpm. I drove Cap't Jack's wagon a few times in 2000, I'm pretty sure I left on the bottom bulb in that car also.

We did it at NY National Speedway back in the seventies. Pro tree (actually hanging lights) 4 tenths, I still miss it. It wasn't perfect because if you were dialed just a little quicker than your opponent you could leave off their light and still not redlight, we didn't have RTs then, another evil IMO, Paul.

told you what i want to do, call the class up, if your not in the lanes on 3rd call, you put the chain up in the back of the lanes and tell the guys, "Sorry about your luck, might wake up and come up sooner next time"
Old school deal, but really its a shame you see the same darn people always dragging there feet to come to the lanes, i know if they ever run our Buckeye deal, i wont put up with it. |
