Dwight's correct, my Dad made the first 10 second Stock Eliminator run at Seattle on May 6, 1978. He went 10.95 at 124.82 to set the A/S national record.

Interestingly, it was exactly 23 years to the day (May 6, 2001) that Bobby DeArmond ran the first 9 second run at Mission.

That is really cool...same date, 23 years less one second apart!

Thanks Guys for the history lesson. It is really cool to hear all the stories about all the old rides that made the history and sometime from those that made it.

Thanks

Thanks for the facts Gary.. Sometimes tough for West Coasters to get any recognition. Also interesting that it took so long for a 1 second increase and now guys almost do it at will. Something stock must have gone out of stock. JMO!

With all due respect to Jim and family, it is factually incorrect to say he was the first Stock Eliminator car in the 10's.

He was the first 8 lb, 9 inch tire, modern configuration Stocker in the 10's.
