You guys DO know ,you're going to have to put a custom 12 bolt in that car, in order to be able to play with the gears? I'd figure out a baseline on the ratio, and then ,when you go lower and don't pick up 60' but lose MPH, go back to where you were! BTW, if you're not too deep into that car, I'd back right out of it ,and into a 78 Camaro 305 2 GC 2bbl car . You could use the 8.5 rear that comes in them.

The only other thing to consider (other than having a car vs. finding and buying a car) would be the difference in weight between the two. The Monte Carlo has to weigh only 3170 to make U/SA while the Camaro has to weigh 3770. I like towing light cars.

I actually didn't realize the hp rating on the 267 was that low. It might be worth a shot for someone willing to spend the money on the rear end. Maybe some math major could analyze the specs and give us a hp and torque potential.?

It wouldn't be too expensive if he could find a GN rear!

I would not put 1 cent into that combo but I have a brand new set of .060 cast pistons in the box for FREE. It's the carb! The 305 2G is a possible and by the way I have one for sale HAHA just needs the motor. I have not had much luck with any two barrel.

We're putting a Moser 12 bolt in the car. I realize it's overkill for a U car but I have a few ring and pinions of various ratio's as spares so we can see which one will work the best when we get it running. we're starting out with a 5.13 and go from there.

A side note on the g body rearend problem, it's quite easy to make a 8.5 from a 78 up caprice fit, needs to be narrowed, and you need to make a set of upper arms similar to a body swap arms but it's cheap and easy if you can fabricate.
