While on the topic of U/SA cars, there was an Olds Cutlass I remember About !0 - 12 Yrs. ago with a 260 V8 combo that was killer in that class. As I recall NHRA outlawed this combo. Can anyone give the details, just wondering... I always thought another good combo for this class would be a '75 Chevy Nova with the 262 - 2bbl. V8. What do you think Billy ?

I think 260 w/4bbl. was misprint or mistake? wasn't that Bob Shaw with that combo.I've got one of those 267combo's my brother abandoned I thought about using was starting to show alot of potential and he quit the automatic only makes me lose interest.

Brian Philbrick runs a 75 Monza with that combo and flies! The Nova with the 262 is another one that I'm suprised noone has ever done. The cam is a bit bigger but it has a very good head and intake but only a slightly bigger carb. The carb is a lot easier to work with though (2G vs. Dualjet). At 165 HP, I don't know if it's 15 HP better (165 vs. 150) though. In a U/SA car that's 300 pounds!

If anyone ever considers the 262 '75-'76 combo in a Nova or Monza I have a complete Carb to pan motor available out of my '75 Monza with a DEANO 2bbl. Went .5 plus under racing part time. Needs freshening and I know with time put into it has a lot of potential as Briane's combo shows us. My 350 in my car at present is Briane's combo from 3 yrs. ago and having a blast running this combo in L/SA. Not a killer combo but competitive enough and having lots of fun !!
