That is exactly my point. This is to get people interested in STOCK SUPERSTOCK. Is your 9600.00 car legal for stock or super stock? I'm guessing NOT. And yes you can build a 10.0 car for 7 grand taht looks awesome and like a stocker. 90 Camaro V6 car bought for 3K. Clean car. SBC350 built with turbo 350 trans and shift kit. 2500.00. Guages, safety and nitrous 1500.00 and it ran 10.07 @ 131.63 MPH. Now call Dan Fletcher or Woodro or any other competetive Stock or Superstock racer and ask them how much to build a car in class that runs the same. All I hear is TV this and 18K that. What you are not saying is you have less that a 10% chance of running for the money and being on TV. You mention running ABC class under B weight and make it fair. Thats a joke right or do you not follow class racing. Bring a CJ A/SA and put it against a C/SA camaro both at B weight. You can't say the CJ cant run because his legal class is A. See then how many class racers want part of a heads up 1950's arm drop race. And as far as head count. IF you READ my post it states more are racing today than in 2000 in class. It ALSO states that eventhough many racers have parked or sold we still have a higher head count than in 2000.
If I would travel like I use to to Nats events I could problably go to 5-8 60 to 18k to win events. If I would go to 5-8 Nats events with 250 to enter to win 2500 plus contingency. Running ABC cars at equal weight is no more of a joke then how the class cars are running each other now. Running them together makes more heads up running then the singles at Nats. CJ are going to be fast no matter what until the factors are correct at any event, so no need to go there. I totally understand the grass roots of classracing but the direction it is going do you feel it will survive. I dont, just my opinion but something else needs to happen and so far I havent seen anything better to give the class racing a jump start. Alex event was great glad I did it and wish it happened again. No Problem is great glad I did that one to and wish they had more then one a year or in different parts of the country. The other Sports Nats just are not the same as No Problem.
Some of the latest POA has a dial in board to show what the guys need to run to stay in. The same could happen for a POA class event. Go off the index or Nat record on the same boards and see how the cars do against that. Some of Rich ideas may not be great but they try something and change if it doesnt work and Im sure they could change the existing concept to work for class racing to.
Oh yeah change the glass hood and put a 400 SBC legal motor and I could be a GT/A,B,C car in hours

Jeff just because you show up still does not change the fact there is less than a 10% chance you get picked. So if you go to 5 races and spend 300.00 and dont get picked what is the better. 250.00 for one race with a guarenteed shot at the money or 300.00 plus expenses to go to 5 seperate events and never run for the money? If you read my earlier post I gave a suggestion that would work. I can't think of one track that would not take 60 bucks per car with a 500 car count for 10K winner take all. Again run off the index with a .500 max breakout and leave off the tree. So sorry PAO is not the answer for Class unless you format it with the above combo.

Floyd, I have a question. What is the % of a chance to win 18K cash at a legal NHRA National event Class Race ? And how much do you spend to Get that chance?

Floyd this has already been attempted more than once and never materialized. What's more upsetting is you disrespecting my idea and vision for breathing new life into class racing in spite the fact I own a Stocker with countless hours of work, sacrifices, and $$ invested. How much more qualified must I be outside of outrageous NHRA fees I can no longer afford? I still support shoe polish racing and traditional S/SS format but class racing needs another fresh direction in order to sustain it's future. If you, as well as other naysayers feel so strongly against this attempt there is nothing forcing you to embrace it. But by consistently posting your animosity towards this effort you're not only restricting positive progression, you hurt the effort of common persuasion towards a viable solution.

A guarantee that you have a shot at the money? Do you get that guarantee now with a national event race? If they are taking X amount of cars and you are not far enough under, you just wasted allot of time and money for a shot at competing for the money. Isn’t that what you are doing at Pinks?

If you use the contigency program correctly you can win as much as 15K at a national event. The point is I am guarenteed to at least race for it. Not standing in the crowd with my fingers crossed hoping Rich and his crew pick me. Gary. I am not discrediting the fact you have experience as a class racer. However you keep saying you are doing this to try to improve class racing when you are taking everything out of what class racing is. You are wanting to change the rules that make this class fun and limit it to a select few that get picked for what some people are offended you call drag racing. The reason arm drop changed years ago was the simple fact that timing devices are more acurate. The reason for dial in was to ensure everyone had an even playing field. You are wanting to take away what makes this class competetive for 5 minutes of fame that you will probably never get. Pinks will NEVER be class racing nor will it EVER be a soloution to the problem of class racing. It is simply a run what you brung competition that no one cares if your car is an A\SA or a hunk of junk from down the street.

I don't think anyone is saying change NHRA rules in class to mirror what Pinks is doing. They are just saying have a stock / super stock event at a Pinks show to help showcase the people that make up the entry level of professional drag racing.

The more people that are interested in drag racing, the better chance we all have at making this a family gig where our kids and grandkids can have the same fun as we are. If NHRA can't get fans to the track, they can't get money. That means we the racers have to make that up with entry fees, which drives the racers away. Once it gets to where the general public is not interested and the racers are staying home, NHRA will simply cut races because there is no money in it.

Floyd I also want to clarify that my intent isn't to "change" class racing, but to offer another style of racing that has proven successful in attracting new fans. I never mentioned "replacing" class racing with arm drop racing. It will be a welcome change from the grind having to wait all day for 1 or 2 runs, empty stands, the ridiculous entry and participation fees, grade points, wondering if bad weather will force you (us) to come back some other weekend so the pros can complete their program. This is an event we're we'll be treated not only like humans, but respected for all our hard work, money, and perseverance deserves. Rich Christensen is the star, and will make us the main attraction, not John Force or the Don Schumacher monopoly. And contrary to pessimistic opinions as I receive info , WILL ATTRACT NEW BLOOD!!!!!

Floyd what if POA was a all run S/SS combo, no crossing fingers and hoping for that guarantee chance? Now you have the chance with one adjustment to the program. The tree still stages the cars and the timing is still activated and just the arm drop makes the vehicles leave. People would get educated on how class racing works during the show as you could be the one explaining how it works on TV. This alone would be worth the price of admission to get spectators to become educated and maybe then they would come to the next Div race to watch class racers. Use the POA score boards and start with index and then CIC race with determined amount of under agreed upon to change next round index. Just like No Problems CIC race that appears to be quite an audience catcher. Im sure some of the big parts warehouses and other parts makers for the sport would like to have a commercial during the telecast on SPEED. Then talk about contigency program with decals on cars that can give that kind of exposure on TV. What would the decal people say about that.

I think you did not understand my point,, I said National Event CLASS Race,Meaning heads up racing. The last time I checked you would be lucky to get 300 dollars from winning class not 15K, Ok maybe 500 if you race a Mopar and they pay you!! lol. the point is Pinks is All out racing no sandbagging, Yes you do have to deal with a little circus act but nothing compared to the BS NHRA puts us through. HANDS DOWN....
I also think you are very wrong about how people at a Pinks event View our class cars
Have you taken a class Car to a Pinks event and see the reaction you get ??
Cause I have....
