Well, I know it was a "cop car" because it had the classic gigantic radiator and sway bar. I guess it could've been a 400 but I didn't think they started production on those until '74 or so. I have no recollection of the CFM capabilities of the carb, either. Was there more than one version?

Brett,
On the Holley 3-barrels. The popular unit is the 950cfm carb. That was the one Holley marketed. Also, a 1050cfm unit was made. Somewhat hard to find today.
Many of the 1972 Plymouth/Dodge 'Police Pursuit Vehicles' utilized the
400 "B" engine. The code #E68 was somewhat under-powered with
low-compression (8.2-1). Called the 'cheapie town-mountie cop car', if you had that engine. I wonder if the dealers swapped on different
carb-mounting plates, and popped on the Holley 950 3-barrel, to get a liitle more power.
The 'state troopers' almost always got the more potent 440 'RB' engines.

Just read some odd info, to save weight. Several of the 62'
3-speed cars had the steel bell-housing switched out to an aluminum one. Could that be a dealer/factory item for 62', or just crazy info.
Paul
Im not sure about the bell-housing deal you mentioned. When these cars were new there was only one stick car around where I lived and he changed to an automatic after a couple of months. The torqueflite combos were killing him with his T-85 3 speed. Even the 409's and 406 Fords could usually beat him. The old Caslers and atlas Bucrons were pretty poor tires and there was zero track prep except for using a broom on the starting line.

Dave
No Max wedge wagons but you could get the controversial 413/395hp with two inline carbs, 413 single carb and the 383/343 two inline carbs.

Jim R and X-Tech Man,
You gentleman know your Mopar stuff.
Someday, I've got to check out (2) old junkyards where a bunch of
old Mopars are resting. All 62' thru 64' cars. Start looking under the hood.
X-Tech on the 62's. I wonder if any of those cars went through
'Chrysler Chemical Engineering'?
Those .038" steel fenders, doors, hood and deck lids had 'mucho steel.'

I dont know if they used "Chemical Engineering" or not but its possable that they were stamped out of thinner steel like the original 1965 Hemi fenders, hoods, and doors when NHRA outlawed the new cars having the alum. stuff.

Rory --Is the car you are refering to the Cec. Hardy car??

Stumbled on another one.
1966 Buick GS 401 'Nailhead' with the 340 HP.
Most came through with the 325HP engine.
Only a 'handful of nails' had the up-grade engine.
Still fit in the same class C/S in 66', as the 325HP engine.

What kind of intake did it have? If I remember correctly that carb needed a special manifold or at least a modified one in order for that big secondary to open. Does that sound right?
