Before anyone starts organizing a lynch mob because of closed fields at the scheduled rerun, maybe everyone should read the original schedule for the Indy event posted on the Division 3 website dated 3/3/2010.

www.nhradiv3.com

Those who did read the schedule know that tech closed at noon on Saturday. That means that the fields were secured when tech closed on Saturday and the event was not postponed until Sunday morning at 9:30.

Travis,

I can certainally understand the schedule but Mother Nature had different ideas.
Perhaps NHRA could make another $5,000 dollars or more and make many racers happy too. Remember it is the first race of the year for Division 3. It's a Win Win for everyone.

Just my opinion.

Travis,

I agree with what the flyer said but it didn't mention 80% chance of rain for the weekend. It would have been foolish to travel 17 hours round-trip with that forecast, agree?
If no races have been ran, everyone gets a qualifying shot or time run, then why not open the entries up to the guys who decided not to throw away $500 in diesel fuel?

Seems foolish to not create an opening for what could easily be over 100 cars to enter the LODRS event. Not my decision of course, but I wouldn't turn down a probable $20K in entries and pit passes. SOunds like the event could use more cars for sure.

Thanks for your response on this site, at least you stated the NHRA position, that is much better then ignoring it.

Rules are rules. If you wanted to race then you should have been there.

Hey guys.....the lite just went on...............IT HAS ALL TO DO WITH THE "12 O'CLOCK HOUR" Tech Closed........ Thats the goal, just force the rain issue, get passed the closing time and bingo! fields closed...

I have asked Jay to request a rule change for this situation...or even this one time.....

I will post the answer when I get it.....I'm sure Jay would like the fields open....I believe he just followed the written rules for a rainout situation....

I talked to him this AM and we are able to race at the makeup, even the DQ, because of the rain situation just thought I would pass that along to any of the other DP/Mustangs that were initially listed as DQ, If you were on the grounds Sat and had teched you can run at the makeup event. I would of course verify that as we did, but thats what I was told.

So Norwalk then Indy.....cool....

Hard to believe that with "schedule subject to change" being instituted at every turn the "tech closes" time is absolutely written in stone!
As I posted elsewhere if Sunday had been sunny and a superstocker showed up I'd wager he would have miraculously been teched and made his qualifying pass!

The rule with rain outs wasn't always this way. In 1990, I missed the divisional race in Union Grove because of work. They scheduled a Saturday (1 day) for the race to be completed later that summer. Luckily for me I was able to attend & also win the race at 1:30 in the morning.
As far as not attending the first attempt at Indy, I like many here chose not to chance it with the weather. I do not have an issue with not being able to attend the make-up either. Looking forward to Norwalk.....1 1/2 hrs away.
