Angry Re: Roy Hill Entry

As far as the car that Roy is driving, it is owned by one of our sports great supporters; James Finch. He has been involved in racing for many years starting in drag racing as a fan and the all the way to winning NASCAR events. James has pushed for keeping the history of drag racing by making sure that future generations have this information. Many of our great Stock/ Super stock drivers have been fogotten and James has worked to bring their stories out for all to hear. As for Roy Hill running this weekend who cares. That man has forgoten more of his passes down the track than most of us will ever even make. He did not take someones entry the feild... is not even close to being full. So let him race without yelling and screaming "not fair".
You have to look at what will it take to put fans in the stands for sportsman. This is what we all want and if that means NHRA allows a few "super stars" to run in sportsman then so be it. If a team has to do a drivers change for a national event, no one gets mad about that and alot of these drivers have no grading points. Lets stop worring about a grading point that actually means nothing anymore. LETS JUST RACE.

Thumbs down Re: Roy Hill Entry

THAT is one reason the need of grading points to run a National event just SUCKS. As bad as the economy is the NHRA should be accepting all who wish to enter these days. Grading points are to insure racers will support the opens and points races so they can enter the larger events. The volume of racers in class legal cars is just not there anymore except for the INDY Nats.

I know a few people have stated in the Roy Hill and Kurt Busch instances, that neither event featured a full field, so no one got bumped and shouldn't be that big of a deal. I understand that...the more cars, the better, and even possibly some extra exposure, as in the Kurt Busch case.. I think the resentment comes from the fact that a "name" person can get entry without A grade point (let alone the required number) and regular people can not. I haven't raced Stock since November of 2006. If I had tried to enter Atlanta on Monday, do you think I, without any grade points since the '06 Dutch Classic, would have been allowed in? I bet good money that I would not have been. I think Dan Fletcher wrote on here a few weeks ago that he tried to enter Virginia one year, being a former World Champ, AND defending event Champ, and was denied entry. I think THAT is the issue, the double standard shown towards other celebrities and not towards our own racers.

He who has no skeletons in their closet has not lived a very interesting life. The problems start when you can't get the damned door closed on the closet.

a bit off topic but the 'little stories' as far as rules bending and life exploits have been rather humourous, if there are more tales to be told lets hear them ( without getting people into trouble that is! )
