Rich Biebel;188470]This seperate purse idea has been done before at some races in Div.1 It becomes a difficult job for the ones keeping track of who paid and who didn't as well as collecting the money and doing the payouts. Sooner or later issues develop and the person(s) doing it say they have had enough and bail out and it is easy to see why they would.....They get nothing for their efforts and extra work.
Like running a football square sheet. People don't realize what a pain in the a** it is until they try it. |

On issues that concern confronting the "governing body"..... as many here have said before, unfortunately, almost no one (in appreciable numbers) will stand together and act, to maybe actually make something positive happen for the S and SS racers. Like the old saying: "When all is said and done, more was SAID than DONE"......Something really big may have to happen before that changes, or maybe it just never will, but I hope the racers get a better deal from the body before most everyone has to quit due to how expensive campaigning one of these cars has become...just my take on it..... They will never raise the purses because then Dan Fletcher will make more money than Graham Light.

No disrespect to Dan and others who have been winning steadily for the past few seasons, but take notice. There is a new bunch cashing in at the payout window recently.
But that's material for another thread. I just ran at the Mopars at Englishtown this past weekend. We had all of 12 S/SS and Nostalgia cars.1st rd only 10 cars ran.I lost in the semis and got $125.I'm still waiting to get a phone call to return $75 of it.I can't believe they payed that much for so few cars. It's a shame,we used to draw 25-30 S/SS cars at this race. One day, nice payout, real nice show cars. They used to book in some hemis, old mopar stars, survivor cars.Well like Dylan sang "The times they are a changin"

Not so true lately Terry........Atco had 2 races to open the season...An Open series race in April and the Lucas series race was a few weeks ago. Turnout for both was modest in all categories.......Stock grew to some very high car counts a few seasons ago at many races. Maple Grove one year was 155 cars! Nowhere near those kinds of numbers in the last year or two....Most of the categories are down but since they have added some categories.......overall participation is still pretty good....
