Thanks for your input. I agree that it would likely be a more competitive combination. I like the thought of more compression, solid lifters, and a nice tall intake. My biggest personal hold up is that I know I'd miss all those cubic inches and the wonderful torque that come along with them. It would be a completely different animal. I wouldn't expect to run with the new cars. -Ben. |

I do run that combination. It's one of the better old chevy small block deals in my opinion. It's taken me a long time to get it to run decent. Other combinations that are better in my opinion are the 340 dusters both low and high compression and the 67-69 400 Pontiacs plus all the new cars that fit E and F.
