Terry, travel distance is no cop out. Greg is right, outside of Clay City, there are no close IHRA races for us. Milan, Imokalee, and the east coast, not one is close to home.

Right now everyone is only dealing with a couple combinations that will take a while to even out....what looks like REAL killer combos haven't even hit the tracks yet....the crate engine Mustangs on the horizon are going to be pretty mean....with the EFI 428 w/solid rollers @ .600 lift and almost 13 to 1 compression in stock...believe me, the pissin' and moaning is just beginning and there is more coming....GM won't be left out either, they will probably bring an even bigger bat (heck they even have a 556HP Cadillac you can buy right of the floor, would probably be factored 250 by the NHRA....)

True....No argument from me but without support (very tough in this economy) there will NEVER be any IHRA tracks closer to home. The KEY word is support. It just wouldnt be good business for the tracks to make the switch.

Terry, we understand that. It's just not really feasible, time or money wise, we've looked at it. And that's coming from guys thrashing on a 69 427 Camaro, the new cars have us covered pretty well. We're like Greg, running combo races close to home.

I'm sorry to say we will probably be losing a few more IHRA tracks up here in the North also.Poor turn out at Byron this pass weekend will proabably be the last there. Only 17 cars in Stock ,and 8 in Super Stock racing in the Race of Champions qualifier on Sunday.Pretty bad for a race that had a IHRA National event payout!!!!!!!

Its sad but in time IHRA will cease to exist then all you will have is the NHRA way or the Hi-Way. The new AHRA never had a chance to get started because of all the control NHRA already has over the tracks. Kind of like just having nothing but the Dems in office running the country. More stuff shoved down our throats (or up the other end) and no way to fight "City Hall". Enjoy what you have.....for now.

To run a Divisional schedule in NHRA, you're not only looking at TWICE the mileage, but also 24 to 32 days wrapped up in it which includes many lost days of work, as opposed to 8 to 12 days (only 1 work day if you're smart) to chase IHRA. Oh, and if you want to chase the World Championship in NHRA, start looking at adding the time and travel for 3-6 Nationals, too. IHRA, finish Top 3 in the Division and you get a free ride into a $10,000 to win (plus contingency, etc) World Championship Tournament. If you'd like to improve your chances, you have 3 National events within 9 hrs. They're only 2 day events, and you're done early on the second day, so you don't lose much travel time. It's a little more of a stretch, but you could make the national at Crandall, TX too, at 11hrs (easy driving road, too), which is closer than Palm Beach, Immokalee, and Martin are for me. Maybe some people haven't put a pencil to it and really figured out what opportunities are out there. I can help people find schedules and explain various programs if they need help. Just holler.
