Man, that sounds really good.
We can't make it now because my brother has a wedding to go to. I really wish we could go because Earlville is a really nice track that is run by even better people. Maybe next year. Thanks for the info, Brad Rose Rose Racing |

Bill,
I was reading the MWSCS website and I noticed it says something about pulling your chutes before you run. Do any of you guys actually use your chutes? Just curious as I don't know too many 8.90 guys that use their chutes.

We almost never use the chute we have gone all season long without ever repacking it but there in lies the rub, since we never use it and never repack it ,you start to question if it will work when you really need it ? The death of the Alcohol Funny Car racer (Neal Parker) prompted the NHRA at Joliet to have all of us demonstrate that our chutes were operable and We (The MWSCS) thought that maybe it might be a good idea to prompt people to do the same. I had an experience of pulling the chute lever because I was trying to stop in the rain ( it wasn't raining when I left the line but I could see it on the windshield @1000') and due to my previous welding repair of a tab in the top frame rail I had melted the housing to the inner cable so of course it didn't work. ![]() That experience taught me to not assume things will always work as planned and it just might be prudent to test them occasionally. ![]()

Bill,
Very good point. I know that most of the super class guys never had to use them so they aren't sure if they will work or not. Dad teched my car at Joliet because I had to work, but he did tell me about the chute check. When we ran Top Sportsman I had 2 chutes that I used every pass. It was an awfully good feeling knowing they were going to work when I pulled that lever. Good call!

First of all I want to thank all of the people with the MWSCS! They are really a class group of racers. Unfortunately the track was terrible on Saturday and in four tries I couldn't make it down. With my car having a shorter wheelbase than the dragsters, it just wasn't going to happen. The track is a great facility and the people are great as well. I think with the rain, the track just needed a lot more work than what was done. We walked the track after the race was over and there was not much rubber on it at all. When I informed MWSC that I would not be making it to first round they promptly refunded my money! When does that ever happen? NEVER. Again a very class group of guys (and gals). I will be making out to run with you guys again (most likely at Cordova).
And Congrats to Jarod Bowman for winning on Sunday!

You weren't the only one who was having problems getting down the track for some reason on the last qualifying pass on Sunay it did come around momentarily and three fourths of us were about a tenth under for that one pass? ![]() I agree that The track is a great facility and the people are great as well. I think with the rain, the track just needed a lot more work than what was done. We walked the track after the race was over and there was not much rubber on it at all." unfortunately we have actually raced on worse. I too would like to congradulate Jarod Bowman for winning on Sunday and Pat LaMont for winning on Saturday. Nice to meet ya and we hope to see ya @ Cordova ![]()
