I was watching on espn3.com and Anderson was interviewed and he said that NHRA had decided not to spray the track past the 1,000' mark... The first two pairs were out of shape and that's when they stopped round 1... They just finished the round so they must have gotten it sprayed....

The reason they don't spray past 1000' is that it supposedly makes the fuel cars chunk tires when they shut down.
My question is do they spray past 1000' during qualifying? Why weren't they having trouble then? |

Perhaps everyone should read the Pro driver reactions....Graham Light's reaction is similar to a certain division director's remarks when stockers were hesitant to go out on a very cold track at one of the Divisional races....."go race on it or go home; I don't care".... This attitude combined with racers with heads outside the cage checking their opponent, untightened belts and such ultimately spells disaster.

All th NHRA management cares about is top fuel and funny car. The whole bunch is incompetent and greedy. They are ruining the organization and are going to walk away with lots of money and nothing left for the rest of us. Everyone should demand change, from the pro's to the sportsmen to the track operators. You can't continue to operate in the manner they are doing and expect results that are good for the organization. The NHRA's first and foremost obligation is to provide a safe place to race.
