Bob, The reverse lockout deal doesn't pertain to OEM shifters.
When I converted my Chevy II to a PG, I just bought $20 worth of column shift parts from a guy and the reworked the detents for the manual ,forward 1-2 shift . Easy enough to do with fender well headers.
