Smile Re: new rules for '68 Hemis

Adger,,,,creative body modifications?? I guess its been a while since I've studied a 68' Cuda or Dart body,,,or else my eyes are getting bad. Care to elaborate on what we're looking for? You don't have to mention any names,,,just say "some Cudas are doing this, (insert creativity) and some Darts are doing this." (insert other creativity) I'm deffinately going to look a little closer at the next national or divisional event I go to.
Thanks for your info,,,take care.

Check out the firewall locations for starters. Can you say engine set back ! Major and I mean MAJOR cylinder head mods plus billet CNC'd intake manifolds 55 mm roller bearing camshafts. relocated exhaust rocker shafts. approx .400 thou cut off the block deck for less wt. in the piston. Lots of RPM and less engine life. Lots of $$$$$$

One of the tricks was just like we did in stock, figure out a way to run more RPM and still make power. For stock it was valve springs and Shubecks, for super stock it is valve springs, light bottom end (within the rules), re-aligning the push rods, tons of mods on the heads and basically in-line carbs on the intake. I would agree that some may have pushed the limits on the body and chassis but the car still has to weigh a minumum of 3210 ... still impressive to run 8.20's at 160 with a 42 year old car ..

I love to watch the Hemi shootouts, but it has turned into a mega dollar class. You almost have to have your own dyno and engine development to catch up or get ahead. Same thing that happened to top stock, cost way too much and only a few could afford to compete ..
