I can say that at tracks like Englishtown (or any other track where you can't roll down the staging lanes) where you start your car roughly 20-25 times from when you leave the trailer til you return it still cranks great after each run. Also, your starter cranks like 100mph faster you'll hear it! As far as power gains, they say the spark is hotter but I built a new motor this year so I'm not sure about that.
Bobby do you have the s1600 or the d1600?

I have the d1000, but I think they call it the d1600 now. Same thing, heavier than the S though but more power. Also before I purchased, I checked with Autometer and Aeromotive to make sure the tach and my fuel pump would work with 16 volts and they all do. My marker lights and headlights are also working fine, they were nice and bright the other night at cecil which was crucial driving around those pits in the dark! No need for a step down resistor.

Most all tachs and gauges will work just fine on 16v. But, you have to be sure and turn the master disconnect to 'off' when you're using the charger because they put out 19 volts+. I killed an Autometer volt meter when I forgot to do that.
Also, I found it best to use the charger every round. The battery would go to high 14's volts after one or two engine cranks.
