Default Re: considering class a rv for towing

If you're going to do it on a modest budget, research carefully. .............Forget anything with a GM chassis, Not strong enough, even after reinforcing, altho mabe with a trailer toad .....I had a 26' class A coach with a 460 gas motor and an Oshkosh chassis that handled my 26' Goldrush effortlessly and is still in use by another racer..............HOWEVER, stay away from the carbureted Ford 460 engine!...They have a mad appitite for cylinder heads. .....I replaced at least 4 sets of heads in the 70k miles I towed with it !..................The ex valve seats are too soft to handle the heat generated by towing loads. ....Even heads with hardened seats wont last long, as the hard seat just receedes into the soft cast iron!..............Dont jump at just anything, nobody is standing in line to buy a Coach right now any way...............Tom
