Section 9.1 of the 2010 NHRA Rule Book "A 500 minimum of a particular body style must be produced.......Special run must include a minimum of 50 of an already accepted body style, need not be showroom available. Applications evaluated on an individual basis. Acceptance will not imply precedent."

It only opens up a can of worms.

Emmons' car is a 96 with a 96 LT1! There are a few cars, like Bartoli's that are 98's and run LT1's. I understand that in 98, they allowed the cars to be updated and still run the LT1 in stock and ss! Hey, it's no different than running the drag pack motors in ss! How many and what year cars were they offered in???

What I'm learning here at Indy is it's who you know and who you...............well, you know the rest!

Frankly I don't care one way or another.
I was just pointing out a fact that it was a non existant factory car. (no matter what Bernie or Alan say) You could not go to a dealer and buy one. No more than you could go buy a 67 GT500 Shelby with a solid lifter camshaft, CJ headed, aluminum intake, 850 CFM Corvette carbed Mustang from a dealer. But they are both NHRA accepted and in the guide.
You could buy a:
62 SD Pontiac
63 Z-11 Chebbie
63 Max Wedge
64 Fairlane T-Bolt
65 Hemi car
66 WO Hemi car
67 427 Fairlane
68 Hemi Dart/Cuda
681/2 428 CJ Mustang
69 COPO Chebbies
69 ZL-1 Camaro
69-70 Boss 429
72 351CJ Mustang
2008 CJ Mustang
2009 DP Challenger
2010 CJ Mustang

From a dealership.

PS

The 68 W code 427 Mustang is also in the NHRA guide but Ford never sold one of those either.
Shelby sold Mustang coupes for Trans Am racing with a fiber glass hood and scoop.
I don't get to use that hood.
Too bad for me. I'm over it LOL
But just wait until I get my letter and approval for the Paxton Supercharger 289/235HP option.

Let this horse die! This has been beat to death on this forum. For one if NHRA says something is legal it is legal! Get over it! There are probably much worse things going on like improper hoods and on and on on a certain year model car. We might as well say that cars can only be painted factory available colors with no decals while we are at it. Be real guys!

If Tuesday morning NHRA got together and said "no LT-1's in '98 F-bodies from now on", what would happen?

Quite simply everybody that now has a '98 LT-1 would have a 1997 LT-1
F-body.

There's a lot of grief on this particular issue...for nothing!

Ok, Lets look at this another way. Take your race car to an event and be TOLD by nhra that its not in the book, so they didnt build it. You cant race it........ go home.

Thats EXACTLY what I was told a bunch of years ago after a class win at Brainerd and Corda got my #1 qualifier money......

Of course I was faster back then and it was Pontiac central.

Gary's stocker is not a '96. It is a 1998. His Super Stocker is a 1996.
