Cool Re: great racing at Indy

Sounds like you've had an outstanding introduction to drag racing, with firsthand emphasis on Sportsman. Hope you make it to Pomona this year or next. I first went to Winternationals in 1980, only missed one since(the year they locked out Stock),and have raced at a dozen or so of them. I too have seen some real history, met some of the greatest people, and gone places and done things I never could have otherwise.I wouldn't have missed it for anything. Glad you had a great time at Indy.

Sorry if I made it sound as though I'm upset with the racers, NOT at all !! just the system, hey if I had an extra $100K I'd have a DP or CJ myself, however I don't think the owners or Drivers of those Cars should get the same glory as someone that has spent years of R&D and Money on thier Cars, only to get thier butts kick on a NHRA Tech blunder !! (AFS) Nothing against these guys, but most aren't winning rounds by thier driving skillls that's for sure, but Hey cash is king for now, and sooner of later they'll be back to watching it on TV and bench racing here on CR when NHRA wakes up!

I agree Gary! I kid 'ol Pothole a lot but I am sure proud of him and that FWD Escort this weekend! Hell, he knows I love him and I am rooting for him to be the first FWD car to win Indy! Yeah, even if he is from a foreign country. Jim

I've had to race against Steve a bunch in my day...

I hope he brings home a Wally north of the border this year from Indy.

Look like most of the slower classes are making a go of it, only three cars are in the a,b,c class the rest E,I,J,L amd of course Steve's class, I'm sure he's happy to finally dragged himself into the show, hopes he makes it all the way. Mark your ex car looked real good. What are you building now? Claude

Jim, that's cold (the " 'ol Pothole" remark), however I'm sure he get's a laugh out of it too! That would've been an awesome sight for him becoming (not only), the 1st US Nationals fwd stock winner, but the 1st fwd stock eliminator national event winner this century! I'm bummed that he didn't but I'm happy for how great Steve did there. Not since Mark Poole's 4th rnd finish at the '99 version of "THE BIG GO", has a fwd car come that close to winning the biggest race of the year....something for sure to shoot for, but since I'd first have to be able to afford the cost of improving my cars performance by .4 to .45 sec., I'll just keep rooting for Steve, Bill Owen, Nicole or Lisa Stephenson, Charles Blossom, and Ron Seibenick to get there, because one of them is going to eventually, and I hope I'm around to see it...what would also be cool is to see Scott Kelley, and his 9sec. Scion get it done in Super Stock!!! Call me a David vs Goliath kind of guy, and I'll root for David practically all of the time!!!

Nah Gary, it's not a "cold" remark. I have called him that for years. He must not mind much as he still will sit with me at the PRI dinner every year! He even tried to get me to pay last year! Jim

Ok Jim, now that's funny, him wanting to sit with you and trying to get you to pay....
