Make it a '68 L88, 4-speed only.

Why 68 did they rate them different than 69
Have to admit the 4 gear would be a ride

Thanks Rory

Compression differences, different deck, dome & chamber sizes.
'68 has negligibly larger cam.
'68 is stick only, '69 is either stick or auto.

Hey Jeff

Just might have to have a closer look at that I see you are right I was thinking 69 was still 12.5 compression etc.
I am just printing specs and will have a closer look

Thanks Rory

The 69 uses open chambered heads. The 68 used closed chamber heads. Thats the reason for dome difference. Go with a 69 and use the automatic. Hope you have a LARGE bank account so you can make it a small one.

Ya I see the difference chamber size, thanks
69 was my original choice with auto but I will have to ponder a little
ya wouldn`t be the first time I kick the **** out of my funds to build a car, becomes a bit of a obsession, keeps me young and thinking......and hell I grew up on Kraft dinner and I still like it

Thanks X-TECH MAN

always calc out your own compression. Not saying the tech bulliten is wrong but it's been known to happen.

You better have $50 or 60 K laying around to build a good one.
Been there done that !
Look for a car done already, You'll be much better off.
If you really want a Corvette look for a newer small block car.
