1. To Colorado Stock/Super Stock racers, 'Vegas is a common track to race at because it's much closer to them then half of Div. 5, so the Burton's have been there alot!

2. 'Vegas is a High altitude track, and thus again a track that Colorado (and Div. 5) racers are very familiar with...Kearney, Ne. is about the same altitude as 'Vegas, and Brad has raced there as well. Therefore...

3. Brad is more familiar with what he's going to encounter there than Slate will be...furthermore his father Scott has been racing for several years, and their cars are so similar, that shared info is plentyful.

4. How can you not feel good about Brad's likeliness of at least winning his first round at a familiar track like 'Vegas, when just this year at the most prestigious race of the year (his first time racing there to boot), that he makes it to the final round, at "THE BIG GO"??
I would feel the same about Brad Plourd, Justin Lamb, and Ryan McClannahan (three other young lions who've tasted the success of many 1st rnd wins), thus I'd feel good about all of them winning the first round at every race they'd attend (especially at a track they've frequently raced at)!!!

Now all of that said, since I digress to have now realized you can claim your best 3 of 6 national events, that adds several others to the mix besides Brad, Edmund, and Slate. Lurking behind (and within striking distance of them), are both Jody & Toby Lang, Leo Glasbrenner, Trista Henderson, and Rusty Hall. Therefore as you said, "that is what makes sportsman racing so great", & "we just have to wait and see"!

jmcarter, Bob Frey pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

Kevin Z. I wasn't trying to jinx Brad, I was trying to boost his confidence. Looking at the numbers it seems like it was a fender kind of finish (given they were only .3 apart on indexes. Based on what Bob said, this weeks race would've been a lot of rounds to go on, and I hope he get's this out of his system, because next weeks race is his most important one...that said he had some room to back into him, and they were side by side the whole way down???

As for you Brian and Slick rick, so what he stumbled, he can improve a bunch next week, and I believe he can do it, however he has to believe in himself that he could too!!!

I'm not so sure about that K., since I guess you didn't read my thread #'s 8, 11, 13, 25, 27, 32, & 35. Based on the top 25 stockers in national points entering this race (who appeared), 11 of 14 first rnd races went the way I thought they would...GREAT JOB TO:
EDMOND, SLATE, TRISTA, MARK, JODY, TOBY, FLETCH, LEO, KEVIN, RYAN, & DALLAS!!!

John Shaul had a normally tough contender in Bernie Cunningham, so that one was a toss up. As for Brad, based on the numbers, wins and race(s) entered by him and Dwight, no oddsmaker would've predicted any different than I did. However, Dwight rose to the occasion (congrats to him), and perhaps karma caught up with Brad??? However, there's still one more race for him....

Super Stock is still up in the air, and although it's good to be Ryan, and better to be Jody or Slate, it's best to be Lincoln....

Thus, the remainder of this race and the season would make for a great reality show, or soap opera...with a possible title of "The Tales at The Strip"???

I wish I could see that, because it should be as good as last years final rnd between John Shaul, and Jimmy DeFrank, or this years US Nationals A/S Final!!!

I'm not going to be accused of jinxing anyone else, even though my statements were about the first round only (I have my pick, but I'm keeping it to myself), so may the best racer(s) win these remaining rounds.

If both Edmond & Ryan bring their "A" game to the line, then it's going to be one of the premier races of the event, and I hope somebody puts it on "You Tube"!
