Anybody wonder where the 235 figure comes from? Think the figure just came out of mid-air? For the answer go to...

www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Modular_engine

The 235 comes from Ford when they are converting horsepower numbers to the International System of Units that the rest of the world on the metric system uses. According to wikipedia, Ford says the 4.6L 3-valve engine produces 315 hp (235 kW) and 325 ft-lb torque (440 N-m). In metric terms kW stands for kilowatts and N-m stands for Newton-metre. These are the units of measurement that countries on the metric system use to rate the horsepower and torque of engines.

P.S. All advertisements for the 2010 Mustang with the 281 3-valve engine are 315 hp.

That shows why all the rest of these new combos are out of touch with reality. Time to re rate them by converting back to good ole USA HORSEPOWER ratings.

Yes....I used to work with Newton Meters and metric crap before I retired from a Navy Calibration Lab. I wasnt sure if many here knew what I would be talking about.....LOL. I doubt if NHRA would even consider any of the refactoring by this process.

I'm a little slow but did someone really just use the word "small" to describe the 2.3 liter supercharger found on the 2008 Cobra Jet, 638 hp ZR-1 Corvette (8 psi), and 635 horsepower Shelby Super Snake (also at 7-8 psi)?

Just because the 2010's have a MONSTER 4.0 liter blower sitting atop does not make the 2.3 liter small by any stretch of the imagination. Guys have been making over 1,000 hp with 2.3 liters since they came out a long time ago.
