I'd say use 1000' numbers and compare them to known good runs to catch the sandbaggers but that would make too much sense.

As bad as the situation is with the new HP factors unless they're put into their own class it will never be resolved in the near future. As far as I see in the rule book there is no rule against bagging. You can't arbitrarily hand out HP based on 1K ft times.Every car is different.
This arguement is gong to be as bad as the one about the chicken and the egg.

It would make the racing better for sure. I watched some qualifying at Charlotte earlier this year and was shocked at how many people were "protecting" their combination.

1000' times are a pretty good indicator. 1000' to 1320' don't vary much between cars running similar times. The sand baggers use 1000' times to know what to dial and know where they stand in a heads up pairing.

You could use 1/8 mile and 1000' as part of your data collection, but you cannot just toss them in and use them.

Jim I think 1.01 under gets you a review.....1.15 under gets you instant Hp. This gives "some room" we all know that their are conditions (aka tail wind, great track, ect) that well sometimes it's an accident ( the 327/275hp guys still feel the affects of this) but that being said 1.15 now is 1.45 under the old indexes & that needs Hp! (my .02 cents)

I believe there are many cars under factored. But lets see, build a car, buy the trick trany, spend money on the rear so it is as good as it gets, spend time on the dyno, change cams, ring combos and have all the best parts. And your reward for all this hard work and money spent is you can run 1 sec. under. So lets add horsepower to that combo so it slows him down to run with the people who run slower on a budget. Its not a real hard thing to figure what combo needs HP. Lets try common scense on adjusting HP

Cool Re: Stk/ss ahfs - Poll

Greg: The New AHFC approved by NHRA for 2011 now out. That's not what this survey is about. I just wondered what the general feeling between racers was. You know, What's a FAST run in your mind. I personally think -.8 to -.9 is fast under the new indexes, and that - 1.0 under is very fast. So with that said, I think the instant HP trigger based on the current and new system should be -1.1 under. That's purely my feelings. What's your's?
