I don't remember seeing you there? He did get left on only because the guy got real lucky on guessing when to leave. Rusty did really good for someone who didn't even want to go.

Tree, arm drop, whatever! I was posting on my iPhone.
Didn't see me there? I was one of the spectators! I tell ya'll, they sure know how to make money. The spectator fee was $25.00 per person, minimum. And while the stands were not packed, they were certainly filled pretty decently. Took me awhile to get out of the parking lot. There was 425 cars entered also. My buddy Kelly Painter entered his street car '69 GTX. It's all stock looking except Cragar SS wheels and a six-pack hood. Has a 572 w/ Torqueflite and 3.23 gears. He was using M/T drag radials and full exhaust. Ran 11.14 and was thrown out for no roll-bar. He even drives it from AZ to his brothers deal, Mopars at the Strip in Vegas. ![]()

Didn't see you there either! I was hanging with Brian and his family. Kelly was walking around saying he was happy he went 11 teens in street trim but sad he couldn't run anymore because of no roll bar. Saw Mark M before he left. I was amazed by how fast they ran the program and the vendors/spectators. I left after the drivers meeting. Also saw Angelo and Kenny and of course Raul was working the lanes. A bunch of class guys and all we could do was root for Rusty. To bad Rusty couldn't pull it off! Also had 1 of the guys from Earnhardt's trying to make the show. A lot of fun-reminded of the fun days of racing-BBQ friends etc. Also you forgot to mention that the entry was $60 per car for a chance to win $10K. Just proves what idiots we really are!

Jess,
I was working and was on the SR51 and Bell Rd @ 5:07 I made it to Firebird @ 5:30. I made it to the spectator grandstands where Kelly, Mark and Randy were sitting just before the big show started. I would have been there all day but I had a Cub Scout pack meeting @ 1:00-2:00 and 5 inspections after that! So Rusty, Great job on making the show. Probably paid for your entry and gas with enough for a nice date for you and your wife. Sounds like a win to me! Your car looked awesome from the stands and it was great at least one class car was in the finals. The final hot laps by the final pair was almost exciting but I don't want to spoil the ending.

Congratulations. We will be checking you out on TV. We have run three of them and we were in at Bristol but blew the motor at Virginia. Those races are a lot of fun. Alot of spectators and the pits are busy day and night.
