If this is a street strip car that a person is careful with I would think you could make anything last, but any serious effort to hook it up would be met with a high potential for Carnage.
No matter what transmission is picked, if this is to be raced, make sure that the type of clutch is considered also.
We sold one of our spare Jerico's to a old timer with a hopped up 56 Chevy. Weighs like 3700 lbs with a 355. He kept breaking T10s. Not a big surprise there with slicks on, but I only agreed to sell him the trans if he bought a nice soft clutch too.
Bottom line is that he has a combo that he will likely never break and prior to that, he was snapping parts like crazy. A little extra money up front makes for a lot more fun and saves money down the road.
