Thunder Road is the same track in the same location as Red River. It changed ownership last year and the name was changed also.
And yes it is about 25 miles North of Shreveport in Gillam. Myron was there 2001 driving the same Locomotion car as he runs today. The 2001 the IHRA World Finals. Only one more Nationals was held there the next year. It is a very nice track, well laid out, racer friendly.

O my yes, must stay on paved areas! It is that black gumbo soil, you do not leave tracks, you pick them up and take them with you
![]() It does have large paved areas but for a National just not enough.

That is the reason why when I won the IHRA National in Epping ,New Hampshire, I got winners hats in the mail that said "Boston"

That mid May date at Thunder Road (Red River) is very good as far as weather. It is less likely to rain than in March or April. It is also one of the best times of the year to draw spectators in this area. there are too many "Other" things to do any other time of the year. Get there early. I bet it will fill up.
