They're probably not even wondering "Gee, I wonder why there aren't as many FWD cars out there any more?"
Hey Mike, that's a bummer that your car is 150lbs heavy for D (I don't feel bad anymore for my car being 95lbs heavy).

I'm sure several cars are not racing much nowadays due to those "weight break" changes, but my case is more insufficient funding for racing than anything. My Cavalier's been ready willing and able to do some racing, however my back pocket has said "I DON'T THINK SO GARY"! Living here in Arizona, if you weren't ready to go racing in February/March (for the 2nats & 2divs that are close to home), then you better have lots of time and dough in your hands for the much longer tows to Sonoma & those D6 tracks, Denver (Bandimere Speedway), and/or Dallas...which I didn't, thus why I was a "one and done(er) this year...

I wish you and Steve (heck all of the fwd stocker racers) well next year, and if things keep progressing as they are now, I'll be back next year (at least to run 3div.'s like '07, or hopefully a full 5 like '08)???

Terry I built a car to race it. I got rid of a car that could run 2 seconds under while being 450 pounds heavy.
The point is it's not fun to worry about the finish line every time you go down the track.
As far as the older cars go now it's just a bracket race plain and simple. They punish skill and engineering.
Now the new cars will probably be flipping coins to see which one wins. And the old style cars won't have a prayer. But the crybabies should be proud.

It *was* 150# heavy, now ~240# heavy since we just got 5HP back... but the new wheels and tires in the back should get me back to 205# heavy... Back to back testing should give us some real numbers on what rotational weight is worth in these cars. It probably won't be until the end of January, but anyone want to guess what 35# of rotating weight (mostly off the back tires) will be worth in E.T.? I've read anything from 1.5 to 10x the static weight. My previous calculation show about 1# = .003 even in the 1/8th mile... I'm guessing the new wheel & tire combo will be worth .25.... could there be a high 14-sec run in the Turismo's future?

Rule of thumb, 1# rotation to about 8.5# static.

Sorry Mike, I focused solely on post #13 instead of #15 as well (which makes it more of a bummer for you too) . I hope that testing yields some very positive results for you and your Turismo!

Art I couldn't sgree more. It's just not fun to be worried about getting HP everytime you go down the track. Give me a 6 tenths under car and run it like you stole it.

Steve with this afhs nhra has the tools to convert all sportsman to brackets.
No reason to spend money, no reason to work hard. And most of all no reason to tear anyone down. Because going that slow they "must" all be legal.

So put the car in DF/S, and you can work on it to your heart's content... welcome aboard!

Mike

I work on this car constantly. But I am stuck, the limiting point on this car is the carb. IT"S WAY TOO SMALL.. I can pick up over 4 tenths by putting on a bigger carb. I just don't know how much faster I can make the car.
