We bought a 230 HP Winnebago Vectra and it tows our 28 foot enclosed just fine. It get's alittle over 9mpg towing at 65 MPH. It's a 94 model, we bought a new Team Spirit Trailer to tow behind it, and so far I would recommend it to anyone. Best of all the whole package cost roughly 27 grand. Over 10 grand less than buying a nice pickup.

Do you have any experience with a motorhome?
Please think long and hard about this investment.
Ask someone on this board who has owned one for a while about all the trials and trbulations that go along with owning one of these things before going out and buying!

Dan what do you mean, what could possibly go wrong with a RV!! LOL!! no seriusly do you have any personal experience that you like to share or what do you suggest using instead, i have two racing rigs over here in Sweden one Crew cab and gooseneck trailer and one big Volvo tractor with a two storey Wilson trailer, they both have their good and bad things about them the big rig thou can carry all the **** you could think off and still have spare room, when racing in the USA i would like to live good at the races maybe bring family sometimes and travel safe and have decent milage, i will not carry much stuff in the trailer just things to race. Any ideas?

No personal experience, I do have friends that have them and friends that no longer have them for various reasons.
Good Luck( I really mean it!).
Just make sure you get one with enough power for what you are towing ,here on the east coast even a small hill will test your nerve with an unnderpowered rig.

Is there any problems with bying one in Canada and bring it to USA?

We have used a motorhome for racing, along with a few other adventures, for 12 years. I describe owning one like owning a boat- you're always working on something. Could be as simple as tightening a screw on the window blinds to engine/ trans/ air compressor system (diesel) etc. Fortunately being racers and car people we can take care of most things needed. The worst thing for RV's is letting them sit still and not be used. Using them for racing helps keep them moving and functioning. People buy new ones and need to fix things. People buy used ones and need to fix things. I suggest buying a used one unless you have money to burn.

We have owned a gas engine and now a diesel. No comparison- diesel for sure. Better handling, ride, you don't beat on it as hard as the gas engine especially in the hills, tows much better, and bigger brakes. Two incidents in the past when we had a very hard braking situation I believe that we would have wrecked with the gas chassis motorhome.

Considering all of the above we are not sorry for the motorhome. During those rainy, cold, hot, long delays at the race track it is nice to sit comfortably and chat with racing friends. We're not sorry for using one.

ditto,check the date on tires .5 years and then buy new ones...SCOTT FIFIELD
