Not a stupid question Chris. I never had a problem with Scotty personally but for a few years it was getting riduculous. To be fair...he was not the only one hanging out in S/St back then. Chuck Rothermal and Pete Biondo ripped up the D1 series for a number of years while running other classes as well.
One of NHRA's reasonings was having SC & SG guys dropping to the class, weighting up and really hitting the stop against (back then) a crop of mainly low to mid ten second super-pro type vehicles. Other guys simply went out and got a second car to run two classes over the weekend, which is fine with me, but whomever mentioned the "entry-level" aspect earlier is absolutely correct. I do remember reading that explanation/class adjustment in ND or some other divisional news letter back then.

With the .500 tree it's a different ball game.
