Dick, I have not tuned any of those new V6 truck engines. We make some pretty fair gains with the 4.8L, 5.3L and larger V8 trucks. My nephew has an inline 6 earlier Trail Blazer that I was able to help enough to stop a lot of that down shifting. It is anoying. A couple MPG is pretty average mileage gains. Sometimes more. Wish I could help you with that V6.
Good luck, Ed

Dick,
Although not exactly the same... I have been working on 604 GM crate engines for about 8 years now and have one permanently strapped to my Superflow chassis dyno. The biggest easy gain is one of my oil filters if it will take a PF-35 type ( Std Chevy ), with gains in filtration media and oil flow my customers see 5-12 rwhp. Spark plugs & wires are also a huge gain on almost any computer based engine, I use projected tips to advance the combustion timing and start the fuel burn earlier. Fuel brand is also a huge gain ( as much as 12rwhp ), I have dyno tested almost every fuel known to man and some are almost as good as VP-MS109 $10Gal. Fuel pressure is also a significant adjustment and depending on the engine and fuel system hitting the sweet spot is 20-30ft# Air pressure in the tires is also worth 5-10 rwhp and more is always better as long as ride quality is OK. I have a customer newsletter I send out with parts purchases, that includes a lot of information on how to make significant power gains. I have some unique valvetrain mods and upgrades that also add significant bottom end torque without losing top end. I have tested almost every part on my personal Shop Suburban an it is a 99 Suburban 350" Engine, 250,000miles that used to get about 12mpg and after about 5 years of playing around it is up to 17mpg. No matter what it still costs over $100 to fill the damn thing up. I bought it from Hendrick with 25,000 miles in 2005 and run about 50K a year. |
