I saw the You Tube preview.Did you see all the side betting in the background?Kinda looked like Connecting Highway back in 1968.All that was missing was the shootout when it came time to pay up.Right Artie?:>):>):>)

I'll bet that we could get, let's say Haas and Oakes, Armstrong and Thomas, Hawk and Biondo, etc, etc, etc, to go at it on network TV. Best 3 out of 5 and get Terry or Wesley to tear them down ahead of time and weigh and fuel check between rounds. I'm pretty sure that as the show moved around the country we could find enough rivalries and bad blood to make it interesting. Even with 2 or 3 pairs per week there would probably be enough in stories to fill up an hour.
That right there is a lot more believable (and watchable) than the original Pinks.
Billy may be on to something here. Kinda like the old match race days. Promoted it would bring a ton of Spectators (cash) to the track for a lot less expence on thier part than promoting some of the other shows.
All Billy needs now is some $$$$ backing and a few good cars to step up to the plate.
Call them, "Billy's Shoot Out" I can see a cutout of him dressed like the Billy the Kid Photo. It might sell.
I'll bet he's just as capable of teching the cars as anyone too.
Could be Kool.
Sorry Billy it's your idea and you need to run with it. Bet Beaver Bob would go for it!
All you need now is the camera crew.

Merry Christmas.

Billy wouldn't need to dress up for TV. Just be Billy. That's good TV right there. 'Course it may not get a PG rating...

Someone brought up doing spec cars earlier. Billy had this covered many years ago, with an idea that still maintained individuality and creativity. The idea was so good that NHRA wouldn't pursue it because they were afraid it would take away from their existing base in other classes, and a similar idea that NHRA had for Comp died on the vine because it would've made a couple of new classes for Comp that would've been more affordable... something the competition didn't want.

Whatcha think Billy, S/DG and S/DS for TV...?

I have what may sound like a crazy idea to alot of people but i am gonna throw it out there anyway. What about a pinks all out bracket race? Figure out how many cars the track will hold and allow that many entries, first come first serve. Two time trials and everybody who is not broken after that runs 1st rd. No buybacks. Super pro guys sorry no crosstalk or else it would just be 16 dragsters at the end. When you finally whittle it down to 32 or 16 cars then bring in the bald headed punk w/the t shirt that is too small and let him run the tree and make all of his stupid little comments that show just how little he knows about drag racing and then you might have a show. I personally think it would be entertaining to watch a 15 second street car being run down by a 7 second dragster. In car videos of people playing the game at the finish line would also be fun to watch. People who down bracket racing and scream heads up racing is the way to go are crazy. That is a game for people w/ money not driving ability. At a bracket race 8 or 9 times out of ten the best driver or one of the best drivers usually wins but not at a heads up race. At a bracket race the playing field is leveled and everybody has a chance. How could that possibly not be entertaining tv?

Flat out Racing with Billy shown doing the pre race tear down would be a show in itself. Colorful conversation and a lot of Bleeps to say the least. Any show needs Colorful Personalities. Who else would you choose to be as Colorful?

I agree with everyone here that the format is cheezeball...but its better than watching soap operas or some survival show. Pinks has trickled into canada in the form of Arm Drop Live...instead of one big group for 10k they ask us racers if we would like to split up the 10K and have an 9,10,11,12 second classes and it works out pretty good. Last arm drop we had rain and rich couldnt stay for sunday to finish the race because he had a hair appointment so his boyfriend Brian Bossone (clown) ran the race and we used the tree (.100 pro tree, very hard) and it was pretty good. I ended up winning but got dq'd for having someone else drive my car on a rain aborted run...whatever. They really should stop looking for brake lights and start weighing cars...its not hard to put a fender on someone and ride the brakes just enough to stay ahead. Its the meat heads that let off of ram the brakes or burp the gas screw themselves.

we ran our 71 mustang at bristol and made it all the way to the semis. to me pinks was by far our best time ever at a race. i bet at least 100 people took pics or told stories of cars like ours. my nephew ed who drives the car signed autographs for at least one hour after we lost. how many stock or s/s racers can say that? if bill hawk or sorenson or one of the fast hemi cars would have been there they would have been swamped with pics and or stories. by the way many thanks to s/s racer jeff lawrence for building one helluva 351c!!!!!! to all the doomsayers and naysayers i believe pinks was one of the best things ever for the little guy in drag racing!!!!!!

PASS TIME was a much more entertaining show for me......the PINKS arm drop thing was just absurd........according to the Brett Wagner...they have not contacted him to film any new PASS TIME shows for 2011 either.......looks like TV drag racing is on the decline and I don't get MAV tv
