And how long and how much work went into getting the old combos to go 1.25 under.
Now you plunk your money down and in most cases (not all) send the car to some shop to get all the "enhancements" fitted in,and to beat all get a 150HP + advantage to start. And in the case of the Mustangs run the car at less than WOT and run amok over all the old combos.
I've been witness to a Drag Pak build over the past year and it in no way does it resemble what anyone in their right mind would consider being a stocker.
Maybe that's why people have a problem with these new combinations?

Exactly! It is not the fact they are neat, that they are fast, or that they are advanced. It is the fact they were never on the street or met emission standards of the year claimed. The '68 Hemis/Darts did not either, but they were Super Stockers.

Ed, I'm too old and arthritic to reach across the car. :-)

This was my entire point in my previous post. The DP cars are not stock production cars. Period. I have a 2009 R/T and my daughter drives a 2010 R/T. Now these models and even the SRT 8 are legal for the stock and SS classes. Now don't get me wrong, I am a true die hard mopar fanatic. You would have to whip my *** and beat me down and then throw me in a ford or chevy, and I still am not going to drive it. I have a garage and barn full of old mopars and enough parts to keep them running until long after I am gone...But, that doesn't mean that I support the issue of the DP cars. Number 1, Grandma mopar does not make a Challenger for sale to the public with a 360 in it (wish she did-I love that little small block) or I'd have one. And Grandma sure as hell doesn't make a Challenger for sale to the public with a V-10 in it.
My dad class raced back in the late 60's and well into the late 70's, back when there were no index runs...First one to the finish line won..He got out of it because of all the crap that is going on now...He says it is too much like bracket racing now. Maybe he is right. Just my opinion.

Look now there is somebody out there that gets it!!! if you can't purchase it off the show room floor than it's not a stocker, if the factorys want to build custom race cars then put them in super stock or create a class for them. Both mopar and ford have engine combo's that wouldn't last a week if ran on pump gas, but it's all about how much and when do we get our $$$.

Just face it. It is what it is. Welcome to the future. I can't wait to see a V10 DP go down the track even though it might take some time for me to get use to the sound of a V10. .... Still can't see one keeping up with a Super Snake.

I'm more scared of this for our future. Check it out.

Oh that's the new Chevy Volter, rated by NHRA at 100 watts, only drawback is extra bank of generators to recharge between rounds. Fits only AAA and AA stock so thank goodness I'm safe in G/SA.
