Default Would 1973 Nova make a good stocker

I have a 1973 Nova Custom 2 door hatchback that I bracket race and am thinking of making it into a NHRA Stocker. I would appreciate any input and comments on whether it would be a something to compete in. Not looking at setting any records. I see a lot of 68 to 72 Novas but few 73 and 74s. What engine combination would be best (350, 307/ 2barrel or 4 barrel). It would be an automatic.
