Just a footnote to this thread which I kicked off...Unleashed has released it's full schedule, including Valdosta, Belle Rose and other places all over the country, including Fontana. Still strikes me as interesting that D2 is the only Division so far that's going to run some of their classes in conjunction with a LODRS event but as previously stated, this is probably a trial ballon and the track operators wanted it so if it helps their bottom line I'm okay with keeping an open mind.

Seems Division 2 is the hot bed for this type of racing.
Most, if not all, tracks had a program last year for the index racers. The classes were 6.5 and 7.0 and an Open Comp which was a bracket race with a 5 tenths tree. The interesting part will be seeing these programs integrated with the divisional program. I went to a "Skinny tire" race at SGMP last Feb that had over 400 race cars with over 100 index cars. The atmosphere was closer to the sixties Gasser Wars than any divisional race. Big question will be if the new racers will put up with the three day format of the divisional and the costs associated to it just to get a Wally. It is cheaper to race elsewhere. |
