Yea, it looks disappointing so far but I've been told that a bunch of the bigs have yet to commit. The new Class deal, however, is generating a lot of interest. Wait for 2012, should be real good !!!!!!!!

How's this for a novel idea.. NHRA pays back some of the money it collects instead of everyone relying on contingency. It's always amazed me how they post XXX amount for the event of which a lot probably isn't paid out because the majority is contingency. NHRA takes credit for a payout they contribute little to.
This is from the 2002 Gatornationals just to compare how nothing has changed. Posted.................1,783,500 Contingency........1,094,150 NHRA/Track...........689,500 Pro Payout.............555,100 Sportsman..............134,400 As far as I can tell it's a double edged sword for sponsors. They have to pay NHRA then pay the racers who run their product. It should be one or the other with a decent payout back to the racers.

Bernie it seems like you are the main racer behind this new deal. So if it works will you take the credit? If it fails miserably what will you do? Blame someone else?

I talked to NHRA contingency director about making a few changes to let small companies in without upsetting the guys who paid the big bucks. Probably not happening in 2011 but he is going to try to get something going for CLass and smaller LODRS sponsors for 2012.
At least Charlie is thinking about it, that is not a bad thing. Jok |
