Jim, thanks for sharing this article about Dave, Bob, and the Chevelle.

The Chevelle was bought new at Bill Heard Chevrolet here in Columbus, Georgia by Gene Tindal who was a mechanic at the dealership. The car was a red on red bench seat Malibu, 327, three speed on the column. Gene drove the car on the street, put about 40,000 miles on it and in 1970 made a Modified Production class car out of it. He ran mostly at Phenix City but did run the Gatornationals a couple of times. The car ran low elevens with an over the counter 302 and tunnel ram, at one time his time slips were still in the glove box. I bought the car as a roller in 1975, it was pretty well all there but the hood had been cut for a scoop. At that time a SS car ran a class lower than the bench seat model so I converted the car to an SS, 283, 4spd "M" stocker. I ran the car all of 1977, won the IHRA points race at Phenix City and at the end of the year won the IHRA Bluegrass Nationals in Lexington, Ky with it. I ran Don Wolf heads up in the final and won with a 12.94 to his 12.92. After the race the IHRA Tech Director at the time, Robert Leonard had me come back to staging and tear it down. The car passed tech, I loaded it up and drove all night getting home because I had to work the next day. When I got home from work on Monday Keiland Harrington called wanting to buy the car and I sold it to him for arount $2500. The rest of the car's history is very well documented, US Nationals winner, etc. Thanks again for the link.

Thanks for the great history Jimmy. We need to at least talk about racing. It is too cold out!

The Chevelle has been a winner all around and STICK Only to boot!
