Bob Gaudreau's 'Candy Cuda' was featured in the
December 1969 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine.

FR,

Not everyone who bought these cars, fell in love with them.
Many owners were selling them by the end of the year.

If you wanted factory backing, you had to race them, and follow the
guidelines set forth.

FR,,
Chuck Poole, the wheelstanding driver got one of the originals.

Sponsored by Arden Chrysler-Plymouth out of Sacramento, California.
It was an SS/BA automatic, called 'Holeshot'.
Raced at Fremont Dragstrip, Northern California.
Won the SS/BA class at the 1968 AHRA Super/Stock Nationals at Fremont.

Also in 1968, the other wheelstanding driver Wild Bill Shrewsberry, got a 68' 340 GTS Dart
for E/Stock, by the Los Angeles County Dodge Dealers.

here are couple of Cam Noseworthy's Crosstown dart as it looked just before it left Canada. It apparently left in fine style having appeared at Mission BC vintage drags towed into the strip on a trailer towed by a real HEMI CUDA. Love to see a pic of that. Dart ran real well, yarding the front end. Went south to warmer clime.

Nice car but good Lord, those slicks are ridiculously large! Is it really necessary to run more than a 14 x 32" tire on a less than state-of-the-art Hemi Super Stocker, especially a vintage one? I mean with all the traction availalble via the modern tire compounds, concrete track surface and liberal application of traction compound on it, you'd figure that would be more than enough tire.

Does anyone know if this was a 'real' Hemi Dart or not? Btw, check out the cigarette in Bob Reed's mouth. I don't think he could get away with that today in this Orwellian age of political correctness and authoritarianism.

I have had a pic of that car in my room since I was a kid - the story is interesting.

That team owned a original BO29 and a lady lost control of her caddy and smashed into the original right thru the garage - they used parts from the wrecked original and built another car.

Car had a beautiful paint scheme.
