I have a novel idea....Why dont ALL of you stay home for a couple of races and see what NHRA thinks. Save gas and diesel, wear and tear on equipment. Make it a be nice weekend for your other halfs for a change. Yeah right.....I know that will ever happen. You have no right to bitch and complain when you drop your pants, bend over and say stick it here big boy every time a race comes up.!

It can be done...If the people in Egypt can overthrow a bad government while being shot at, then all sportsman racers can do something to catch their attention... like a no show for 2-3 races i think this is a good start...( don't look into anything I'm not advocating anything ) Maybe some racers are thinking a BAD place to race is better that NO place to race...Luke SS 311

Damn, The one issue I was looking forward to, and it has'nt gotten to my part of Pennsylvania yet!'
I really wanted to read 'ol Toms' accolades of us lowly sportsman racers. My Dragsters keep coming later and later Must be my mail carrier reading it first, cause the subscription dept. says there is never a problem on their end!

His answers were all very politically correct.
Hard questions were not followed up, interviewer was happy with PC answer. Even the IRS audits which have been happening periodically over the years. Not everyone has forgotten when they were closely investigated in the 90's. The comment about management prior to his taking over trying to "please everyone" and therefore being "all things to all people" was telling about NHRA management focus. He repeated what I have heard for years that Sportsman Racing will not be deleted. Although the part about not turning a profit only possibly applies to divisional and national opens. Fees paid by sportsman racers to attend national events should help to cover those losses. Have said for years that NHRA upper management, as well as major sponsors, as well as ESPN feel and quite possibly rightly so, at this point in time Nitro is their best entertainment product to present to the general public. NHRA needs to analyze the real exposure that ESPN is providing on their stick and ball channels cause it's not that great! By not promoting with any vigor other viable products is short sighted and a disservice to the sport in the big picture. With the popularity of all the auto restoration and auction shows maybe consider the auto enthusiast broadcasters like Speed as an outlet for Sportsman Racing. ESPN would not like it but NHRA should be exploring all their options in this weak economy.

[QUOTE=Signman;245387]His answers were all very politically correct.

Frank -I read it and see it the same way.... it's not "60 mins" doing the interview.... its ND... Would you expect anything else? They're not going to fire missiles at him. The whole thing has become a business.... and like all businesses they are trying to make money.... as much as possible. If you look at X-Tech Man's post.... (while too vulgar and graphic for my taste).... ideologically makes a good point. Anyone truely unhappy has the right not to participate. Go if you want.... don't go if you don't want.... but you know exactly what you are getting into when you do. So.... to go..over and over..... and then continue to blame, criticize, & complain only makes the participant look bad. Now.... I gotta go put my motor in & get the car ready for Atco in 3 weeks cya then!
