Most everybody likes ice cream. You REALLY like plain vanilla and others REALLY like vanilla with chocolate chips, even though it's more expensive, sometimes we don't have the money and have to save-up for it and we complain about it. (That's human nature.) But don't keep reminding us about "plain vanilla" and how difficult "chocolate chips" are to get when we know what other flavors are available. Some things are just worth it. I like both! ![]() |

different strokes for those of us who cant and dont even want to afford chocolate chip well just have to settle for plain vanilla. my ego is not driven by speed. I happen to enjoy having to cut a good light and drive the finish line.
heads up runs for guys with really fast cars just basically amounts to a no lose time trial. youll have yours and theyll have theirs and ill have mine and together well be fine. It takes different strokes to move the world. |

We have to do everything a bracket racer does, plus have to be able to make one fast within the rules. You guys just have to do part of what we do. Heads ups aren't that common. If you can't build a fast one you need to stick to bracket racing.
I think there is a bracket racing section here.

For some people, like class racers, the extra level of difficulty can be fun and appealing. But those who do also have to accept the consequenses. It's challenging ones self. It starts out having to run the index - the minimum performance level for a class. It's a greater or different sense of competition. Then the amount of time and money needed becomes a factor. That's why the new cars and overall economy are such hot topics. Class racers will deal with it as well as they can. And some will continue to bracket race once in a while also. |

Not every heads-up run is a -1. 20 under car vs a .40 under car, and "you don't race'em on paper". Numerous heads-up runs have surprising results. I've beaten guys that had me covered .30 on paper, and gotten beaten by .20 by guys that had me covered by .80.... Whom years later after improving my own program, I could've beaten. Performance is an enjoyable personal challenge above and beyond package racing.

i appear to have been well misunderstood. s/sst is awesome running fast under certain rules and all that is awesome. all that i was doing was suggesting a way to IMPROVE CAR COUNTS. people are always gonna be able to afford to bracket race. quite a financial step up to be competitive in s/sst. GOOD LUCK.
