I believe I used the 62510s in Chrome when they still had them. Make sure your bases mounts are correct.

Yikes! On that note the cross-member stays when the Jerico goes in next year.

You will like the Jerico better..Also my father had a old B/W 3 speed blow most of the case off and the main shaft and the drive shaft stayed together! He did say there were some shifting rods draging the ground because he was holding onto the shifter, so it would not drop onto the track. Ah yes he said the good days of Junior Stock. That was in his 55 wagon I think.

Robert -

I had the same experience with my first car - '57 150 Business Coupe 283 2-bbl. After NHRA outlawed the four speed, I tried a three speed. Spent a lot of money on a lot of new parts and modifications on the 3-speed. When I got it together, I threw mufflers on it, drove it around to break it in, then one blast down the highway to try it out. The one blast blew the cluster gear out on to the street on the one two shift.

Much as I remember (and it's been a while!), didn't the 55-57 Chevy have the rear mounts on the bell housing? Or was that just on the trucks?

I once had a Top loader in my Nova that bent the factory crossmember before I braced it, a little heavier than a muncie.

Yes, the stock 55-57 cars have the rear mounts on the bellhousing. The originals were a "rubber" style that over time got really sloppy because of leaking oil/transmission fluid. I had special steel ones made that mount in the original spots which I currently still use.

Robert,I too used to run the T-16. Took an original sidecover in one time to have a bushing pressed on the 2/3 boss to strenghthen it. They threw it out by mistake and ended up making me one out of steel. It sure shifted better.
I am looking forward to the Jerico and am on a mission to make it work while retaining my original bench seat.

Thumbs up Re: Solid Motor Mounts - Good or Bad?

Allan, we run the bench seat in ours, it is cut out in the center for the stick and the long shifter off the jerico fits just rite. You will ne believe the difference. Did you get the clutchless? Best of luck keep in touch.
