In my case I have changed to a Ford Toploader and with the cast iron case it weighs a beastly 110 lbs. Felt it would be too much weight hanging off the back with no support. It may or may not be a problem but did not want to take a chance on breaking an ear off or worse.

Once the Jerico is in next year I might leave the rear mount off as the trans is 40 lbs lighter.
