1961 Falcon, oh yea, I turned that into an L/Stock, a1963 Falcon Sprint, that I ran in J/Stock, a 1966 Falcon, oops G/SA, I think I see a trend emerging. Because of car payments (gave the finance companies fits) I drove first a 54 Buick Special ($75) and a 56 Buick Century Wagon, I sold that to Tony Janes and finally a 1969 Chev 4 x 4 pickup. I guess my priorities were racing, now that I think about it. Fred

1966 my uncle bought a '67 Le mans.He gave me his '60 four door Catalina 389/2bbl auto.I put dual exh. with pipes under the rear out the back and 8:25 thin whitewalls with baby moons.Put all sorts of racing decals on the rear door glass. It was stock engine wise but it sure left from a stop light with the Turbo Hydramatic trans.I parked this car,and a '55
Chevy,'56 Chevy 2 dr S/W and '57 Chevy Nomad with a straight axle (red and white paint and red and white r&p interior) on the streets of Greenwich Village in Manhattan back then.Try that now.

Hey I was trying! This was factory stock in 66. I don't know where the transistor radio was in this photo, but it was tuned to "Little Deuce Coupe" I'm sure!

In 1966 my daily driver was a blue metallic 1966 Pontiac Catalina coupe [389 2 bbl auto] that I had purchased with both quarter panels damaged & repaired. Drove it to Galveston Tx on vacation. My drag race driver was a 1966 GTO purchased as a theft recovery [no motor or trans] installed a 389 4 bbl & turbohydro for F-2 BS/A [N.A.D.S. rules] Only got to race it a couple of times at Tri-State Dragway, Kahoka, MO before I received the letter from Uncle Sam. Later that year my daily driver became a 5-ton dump truck around Long Binh, Saigon & the Iron Triangle at Xmas.

In '66 my daily driver was the black '50 Olds that "Yac" has in his V/Stock pictures. It had a hopped up '56 324 Olds engine and good 4-speed Hydrostick. With 4.30 gears and 8.20 x 15 Atlas Bucron tires, I used to tell the '62 to '66 Muscle Car drivers to leave whenever they wished. The car wouldn't spin a tire and I'd be long gone before they ever found traction.

If I survive a couple of more years, it may be my Summer daily driver again, but updated a little.

In June 1965 I bought my first car, a '59 Ford Galaxie 292 3-speed. I soon added a 4-bl, dual exhaust with cutouts, and traction bars. In Jan 1966 I traded it on a '63 Galaxie 500 boxtop with a 406. The 406 later got replaced with a 427 LR. As my daily driver that '63 Galaxie saw lots of street racing and passes down a dragstrip.

Wow! A lot of great cars and a great time for factory hot rods.-----What a great sense of humor you guys have, some of the posts were hillarous. Terry----- Our next big number is 70 . Where did it go? Most of the guys you mentioned are gone , I do see Gene Calhoun ocasionally and Rocky Martin's son Ricky is a painter here. Thanks again to all who have served and are serving to preserve our taken for granted way of life. And to my grandson Danny, a brand new Marine ( Semper Fi )-------Danny

I was in the Army in '66 and bought a new Belair two door sedan, 283, 3 speed. It was Burgandy with Red interior and I immediately put a set of Fenton spoke wheels on it. I later made a stocker out of it and set the O/S record at the '71 Gainesville Divisional at 13.45 or so. The problem was I didn't know until I got my ND a couple of weeks later that Bruce Wilkerson also lowered the record on the same day at Bowling Green and was a couple hundreds faster than me so my "record" never hit ND.
