I've seen on occasion where concrete was replaced in the water box area and due to the lack of an initial smooth surface (not enough water in the concrete mix?), it made burn-outs difficult.

My son and I race there weekly and we never have a problem doing a burnout. His car is a 11.80 stick shift car with a line lock and mine is a 11.90 auto without a line lock. They do run a dry water box, but we also have very little problem with water tracking up to the starting line. My son races at 7 or 8 different tracks a year and at MIR he has his best 60' times with Ceicl County being second. They also tend to run a dry water box. He runs M/T slicks and I run Hoosier slicks.

my car was doing the same thing. I did notice that behind the left lane waterbox, there seemed to be a puddle of water all weekend. I tried to drive around it with the front tires.

I also fee that they pull cars up to the stop sign too soon and too close to the cars in front doing a burnout. I had pebbles and rubber chunks hitting my windshield until I quit pulling up as soon as the person working behind the water box motioned to pull up.

I mentioned to the guys a couple times to put a little more water down in the box for you guys. I try to turn and check that area out every once in a while even though I have plenty other things to concern myself with. I happened to turn and see Mr Beard shaking his head after his burnout so I knew something musn't have gone well back there. Sucks for people who race alone but never hesitate to ask for what you want if you have a crew person. Just don't walk up and start working the water yourself, those guys take their job seriously and do want to help. They work their tails off all day up there.

Chris...it was nice to have you there man. As for running after the pro-mod cars....there shouldn't have been much difference in how your track was first thing in the morning. Heck, only a couple of them could figure it out anyways! Hope you guys didn't have too many traction problems but again, if ever you need something different, I'm very aproachable and would love to talk to you about it. Always wanting to learn.

Special thanks to the NHRA guys who came to race with us, quite a few folks whom I had never seen at one of our races and I hope the experience was a good one.

See you all at Piedmont...but don't ask me about track prep there...I'm gonna be racin!!!!!!!

Marc,

I didn't mean to imply the track wasn't providing traction. I was just echoing what dw said about the car not wanting to pull out of the water box. I did have to abort my first time run on Saturday because the car in front of me had left some liquid which was cleaned up by the track crew, but I moved over a little and I think I got out of the groove because when I shifted to second gear, my car got loose and turned toward the center line.
