Amenia, New York
Located in Dutchess County, adjacent to the Connecticut border. Main Intersection; Routes 44 & 343 Town about 10 minutes north of Dover Plains. Dover Drag Strip (1961 thru 1976) Farm/Barn location; Smithfield Valley Road Apparently, you would think some of these cars found their way down the track at Dover Drag Strip in the mid-late 60's. pc |

GTX John,
I believe the 1966 Dodge (only) was available with a 440, in the large body cars (Polara and Monaco) and 'Special Fleet Order' Police Pursuit Vehicles. From the little information that I have found, the original owner of these cars was a Chrysler-Plymouth Fleet Order Regional manager, who handled New York State fleet orders. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 04-13-2011 at 01:05 PM. |

Paul,
I found a '66 Chrysler in a junk yard in Alabama that had a 440 in it that was obviously a factory car. JimR

They put tons of 440's in 1966 C-Body cars, the question which I have never witnessed is a 440 in a 1966 B Body.

There was a Chrysler dealer in Amenia. Amenia Motors, I believe they were shut down when Chrysler dumped alot of the smaller franchises recently. It was a Mom & Pop operation. I would think if this story is real, the paperwork would come back to that store.
