Thank you Mr. Jeff..I am 51, and I remember when my Dad used to drag me around with him racing a stock class car, and I remember that they all raced for that trophy, it wasn't about the money...And to the true stock class racer, I still don't think it is...Like my old man said, "If you can't afford the sport, don't be negative about it or down those that can. It's a sport, not a job.

I would still do it for a trophy. Heck even a picture of a trophy. When I can no longer afford to do it I will not cry about it or bad mouth the guys that still can. I'll just quit.
I agree with Jeff Colvert (That's a FAST Mustang!) Toby Lang and Jeff Teuton.
Nobody owes me anything for driving down the track by myself.

[QUOTE=Jeff Teuton;253573]Cost to race> Kevin stopped south of Dallas at a QT for 3.89 a gal.

Jeff that Quick Trip was selling diesel for $3.79 Thursday. I topped off there on the way to the track Thursday. I still have my receipt. Sunday diesel there was $3.89! My first trip ever with a diesel.

I found the cutting off at launch, but it slowed down each pass at Ennis. I just put it in the trailer after qualifying. Didn't want to break it. Hope it's just valve springs. Depends on how bad it is. Still in the trailer. Came home to a pile of work that came while I was gone. Should get it out tomorrow evening to find out.

I tried to get in yesterday but they would not let me (no grade points). I planned on attending Dallas but had a problem and could not get it fixed in time. I know the rule is that you have to have a grade point, but I do not like it. I will go to Indy points race instead.

Guys... It's not just Super Stock/Stock that are down in numbers Look at all the other classes, they are way down too. Perhaps it's the economy and not NHRA's fault. I think maybe the $4.00 (plus) per gallon for gas and diesel have a lot more to do with this than NHRA. If I were NHRA I'd be on here saying; "Hey Guys, we can't please all the people all the time, even when we try so please... cut us some slack"! Personally, I think all things considered they do a pretty good job most of the time. I have things I don't agree with but in light of the big picture it's not that bad so I'm not going to be a cry baby. No matter what they do there will always be some of us who are unhappy. "God Bless us all"!!! (we need it)

No matter what we did there would be unhappy people. If the unhappy people ran things, there would be other unhappy people. I don't expect them to cater to me, and if I get unhappy enough about things I'll just quit. Still the best show in town, imho.
