The 4.6 litre V8 is rated at 235 not the V6. But I am sure you no that.

But what I dont understand is WHY does everyone get upset when I say ANYTHING about the truth of the bogus HP ratings and the sham that Ford, Chrysler (and no doubt GM if they had a car) has made of stock eliminator? Get over it....I didnt do it nor can I change the fact that its all a joke unless NHRA gets their act together. . Just stating facts as I really dont care one way or the other anymore. I guess I just love to piss off these new car owners as a hobby ! I just laugh when one of these combos goes to fast and gets hit by the AHFS then the squeeling begins. I guess the truth hits home and it dosent go down easy or up depending on your position. Going fast means NOTHING with these cars other than the fact that you like to spend money that you dont have (well some anyway) to buy parts that you dont need to try to impress people you dont really like ! Enjoy your $4 a gallon trips to the circus.

Yeah.....Not often enough but thats the way NHRA wants it. Other wise the amount under the index hit would have been set lower. Just wait until INDY.....LOL. Better yet make it again like in the past that only class winners get to run for the eliminator.

Being that there is no 7.0 weight break in Stock Eliminator, technically, "move down (heavier) one class" would apply to any car with a weight break of 7.49 or lower. Going by the rulebook, the next highest class for a car with a weight break of 7.01, 6.99 or 6.49 is 7.50 to 7.99 (AA). People seem to be saying that the car is no longer allowed in Stock because its weight break is lower than 7.0 but that's making an assumption of a fictitious 7.0 to 7.49 class. Reading only from the rulebook, the CJ, or any car with a weight break of under 7.49 can add weight and get the car into AA. No?

Before the new cars and AA/S, A/S was 8 pounds. The 427/425 Camaro was ractored at 7.9 something and was allowed to run A/S, The auto 427/425 was factored over 8 and was allowed to run A and B. The hi comp Max Wedge, T-Bolt, L-88/ZL-1 cars were not allowed to run in A because they were factored lower than 7.5 pounds per rated horsepower. Along comes AA and they are elgible to run. The 427/425 Camaro can now run AA and A. The auto combo can now run AA,A, and B.Anything can happen with the stroke of a pen, but if they follow 'precedent', the 08 car would be SS only.

Well, they've changed to guide to aforementioned 6.91 and 469 but nothing indicating the official NHRA position as far as I can see....

I think that any NHRA precedent went out the window a few years ago and to think they would apply the same rules to anything said or done pre-2008 is simply a dream. The 425...I mean 430...I mean 440 horsepower L-88 changed factor 13 times before it hit the books and now NHRA's line seems to be "we have to trust the manufacturers horsepower rating" with the new cars. That said, the rulebook is the rulebook circa 2011 and as it reads, I take it to say these cars can just keep adding weight to make 7.50. I'm sure the NHRA has/will make a ruling in this. Today, 4/19/2011, the 2008 Ford Cobra Jet rated at 469 still has a Stock Eliminator factor.

I'm not arguing one way or another but an assumption based on precedent is a mistake to make with all the changes that have and will continue to be made.

The way the CJ will get kicked out of Stock is the added ballast rule. Since a car can vary only a certain amount from its shipping weight, if the HP factor becomes so high that in order for the CJ to make class weight at 7.5 # per HP, it has to add more weight than the rules allow, it can no longer run Stock.
