I heard over the PA that he hit the wall. Here's what it says on DRC in the session one comp notes:

Quote:
Ouch!! Cocuzza makes a strong clean mid-fifty under pass and then had problems getting the car stopped on the top end. He looked to have tagged the wall way down track. He is out of the car and OK, but the call has gone out for lots of sweepers and brooms to the end of the track.

Phil said that the trans went into 2nd at shutdown, which caused him to lose control. He crossed into the right lane and hit the wall. A lot of damage to the front & rear of the car. Phil is fine. Short shut down had nothing to do with it!

Just for the record, it wasn't that the track was too short. He lost it right after the finish line, and came in contact with the water barriers at the short turnout. Still plenty of track remaining, but something went wrong early on.

Well, we may have lost Bill O'Connor from the top of the list at Fontana but Chuck Blossom is a FWD low qualifier at Great Bend!
