'68-'70 AMC AMX 2-seat 97" wheelbase. Will run fast in Stock or Super Stock on 9" slicks with Calvert rear springs and bars. I went 10.50's in D/S with a 390 and loaded a "fair" SS 390 and a steeper rear gear. Went 10.00 in SS/H. The 290, 390 (either 1968-1969 or 1970 (different specs) and '70 360
will all under by a significant margin with the 290 as Roger mentioned probably the best to build (and cheapest).
But you probably want a belly button car...

Tom,
Check with Hemmy Adkins or Garrett Ghezzi (SS/MA from Joliet, IL) for NHRA piston.
Dwight Southerland played around with one on a dyno also.

dwight and i have been in contact since the get-go...
that's why i asked about 290 pistons, afaik, i'm gonna be the one that's going to get 'em started...NOBODY to my knowledge is making an "NHRA accepted" piston...
btw, they will be 4bbl pistons....
don't think there'll be much demand for 2bbl one's...

btw, if anybody seriously wants to get the ball rolling before i get to it, contact me...

Cool Re: Stocker to superstocker

1968 Chevelle, 327 250/245 engine, Powerglide in Stock, 3 speed OK in Super Stock.Runs J,K&L in Stock, SS/KA and SS/LA in Super Stock. 10.5" tire in SS, un tubbed with right offset wheel. It's not a second under car, but far ehough under to be fun,and they are consistant.
