The second photo is of dad's "Hot Stuff" Camaro at Rockingham in the 1980s. Dad later won the IHRA Stock World Championship with this car in 1996. We still have and race this car.

The third photo is of grandpa's (Earl Smith) "Shakedown" 1969 Camaro with dad driving it at Englishtown, NJ at the NHRA national event in 1985. Dad won that event. We still have and race this car also.
The first photo of the white '69 Camaro was the car that our father Harvey Emmons Jr. purchased in 1983 from Jeff Taylor and our brother Speedy won his first national event in Stock eliminator at the '84 Cajun Nationals against Mike Cotten. In 1985 the car was destroyed in a garage fire along with our father's 1969 Nova that ran SS/JA. I am getting some of the photos together that I will post in the next couple of days showing before and after the fire. It was a loss that still bothers us to this day when we think about it.

Thanks! Dad said he would love to see the pictures. He talks about that car a lot and regrets selling it to this day

Did Jeff Taylor get the car back after it had burnt up? Dad stopped by Mr. Jeff and Mr. Charlie's shop in Lumberton not too long after the fire happened at your garage and saw a burnt '69 Camaro and wondered if it was it. Dad started out racing with that car. It had a 4 speed in it.

Dad wanted to know if yall have ever purchased a car from Dick Henry? He had another 69 Convertible.

Your dad is exactly right. My dad sent the car that was in the fire back to Jeff Taylor's shop to have the motor, transmission, and rear end removed, gone through, and installed in the '69 Camaro convertible he purchased "rolling" from Dick Henry for $5000 (the car was his wife's stocker) . We still have that car today. It sits in my dad's garage under a car cover and he won't even let us touch it! LOL. Your dad has a great memory!

Here are a few of the photos I promised. I believe the 1st photo is INDY of 1984. The second two are obviously from the fire in 1985. It literally made us sick to look at them again.

Oh man.. Emmons... that's HORRIBLE

I bought my car in September, 1993. Here's my BelAir in 1998. Just a street car, with a pretty radically cammed 409HP 409 ( was a factory 6 cylinder car )

Curt,

Nice PR on your dad in the latest Drag Review.

Some of the young guys have no idea how he was (and still is, in my mind) a bad dude back in the "good ole days."

I never knew you guys used to own the Jimmy Morton/Jeff Taylor car.

Tell the whole family I said hello.

Doyle
